Membership Eligibility
If you live, work, or worship in Caddo or Bossier Parish, you are eligible to become a member of WESLA Federal Credit Union! Your family members may also be eligible.
In order to be a member at WESLA Federal Credit Union, you would need to open a Savings Account with a minimum amount of $25. There is a one-time $5 membership fee, and $20 goes directly into your savings account!
Your savings are federally insured to at least $250,000, and backed by the full faith and credit of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. Government Agency.
Membership Benefits
Credit Unions are not-for-profit organizations. We exist to serve our members rather than to maximize corporate profits. Like banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans, and provide a wide array of other financial services. But as member-owned institutions, credit unions focus on providing a safe place to save and borrow at reasonable rates. Unlike banks, credit unions return surplus income to their members in the form of dividends.
Credit Unions have favorable rates and customer service. Fees and loan rates at credit unions are generally lower, while deposit dividend and interest rates are generally higher than banks and other for-profit institutions. Credit unions are democratically operated by their members, allowing account holders an equal say in how the credit union is operated, regardless of how much they have on deposit at the credit union.
Once you join WESLA Federal, this allows any of your family members to automatically become a member and enjoy the many benefits of membership.
